How to Capture Evidence During Route-Type Inspections on iOS Devices

When performing a route-type inspection in the CaptuData mobile app, you can collect various types of evidence — including photos, audio, video, and text — directly from the inspection screen.

Follow the steps below to capture and manage your evidence

Step 1: Access the Evidence Capture Options

While conducting the inspection, the app will display icons at the bottom of the screen that represent the available types of evidence.

Tap the icon corresponding to the type of evidence you want to capture:

  • 📝 Text evidence — record a note or observation.

  • 📷 Photo evidence — take a picture on site.

  • 🎥 Video evidence — record a short video.

  • 🎙️ Audio evidence — capture a voice note.

Step 2: Grant Camera and Microphone Permissions

When capturing photos or videos, the app will request permission to access your camera and microphone.

Warning
Important: You must allow this access; otherwise, it will not be possible to capture photo or video evidence.

Step 3: View Evidence on the Map

All evidence is automatically georeferenced — meaning each item is tagged with the exact location where it was collected.

On the inspection map, evidence items will appear as pins, just like in the example image.

Result: You can easily identify where each piece of evidence was collected during your inspection route.

NotesTips
  • Keep your GPS enabled for accurate geolocation of evidence.

  • You can view, add, or delete evidence while the inspection is still in progress.

  • After finishing the inspection, don’t forget to sync your data when you’re back online.
