How to Capture Evidence During Route-Type Inspections on Android Devices
While performing a route-type inspection in the CaptuData mobile app, you’ll have several options to collect evidence — including photos, audio, video, and text.
Follow the steps below to capture evidence correctly
Step 1: Access the Evidence Options
When you start a route-type inspection, the app will display a set of icons at the bottom of the screen that correspond to the types of evidence you can capture.
Simply tap the icon for the type of evidence you want to record:
📝 Text evidence — record written notes or observations.
📷 Photo evidence — take a picture.
🎥 Video evidence — record a video clip.
🎙️ Audio evidence — record a voice note.
Step 2: Allow Camera and Microphone Access
When capturing photos or videos, the app will request permission to access your camera and microphone.
⚠️ Important: You must allow these permissions; otherwise, you won’t be able to capture photo or video evidence.
Step 3: View Evidence on the Map
All captured evidence is georeferenced automatically — meaning each piece of evidence is linked to the exact location where it was collected.
On the map, your evidence will appear as pins, just like in the example image.
✅ Result: You can easily review and identify where each piece of evidence was gathered throughout your route.

Keep your GPS enabled during the inspection to ensure accurate location tagging.
You can view, add, or delete evidence while the inspection is still in progress.
After finishing, remember to sync your inspection once you’re back online.
